James F. Groves

Jim Groves is a trial attorney with a general practice representing both individuals and corporations. In 1972, he began a private practice, handling personal injury, insurance defense, divorce, and criminal defense matters. Since then, he has concentrated his practice in the areas of civil trial practice, including medical malpractice, corporate representation, personal injury, insurance defense, divorce, attorney malpractice defense, intellectual property, and civil rights.

Mr. Groves is recognized as an attorney who handles both plaintiffs and defense cases.  Because of his extensive experience in litigating and trying a diverse number of cases, Mr. Groves is often selected by his peers to serve as an arbitrator or mediator to resolve matters outside the courtroom and as Panel Chairman for medical malpractice cases.

Mr. Groves has tried over 200 jury cases in the State and Federal Courts in Indiana as well as bench cases, divorces, and administrative matters. He is frequently called upon to represent judges, prosecuting attorneys, sheriffs, county commissioners, and various other political officeholders. In representing plaintiffs at the trial level, Mr. Groves has obtained numerous verdicts ranging from $500,000.00 to in excess of $1 million.  He has had numerous trials resulting in successful defense verdicts in the face of damage claims in the millions of dollars. Mr. Groves served as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army Infantry, having enlisted in 1969.

Clint A. Zalas

Clint Zalas is a native of South Bend, Indiana. He is a graduate of Purdue University (1996) majoring in Anthropology and History, and of Valparaiso University School of Law (2001). He is an experienced trial attorney whose primary concentration is on plaintiff personal injury, personal injury defense, insurance defense, municipal law, real estate litigation, corporate litigation, and divorce law.

He has represented individuals, businesses, and governmental entities at both trial and appellate levels of litigation. Clint has tried numerous jury cases in State and Federal Court, representing both plaintiffs and defendants.

Clint is a member of the Robert A. Grant Inn of Court and has served on its Executive Committee. He is an adjunct professor at Notre Dame Law School, where he teaches deposition skills. He is a member of the St. Joseph, Indiana State, and American Bar Association and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.

Clint is also active in his local community and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce of St. Joseph County.  He is a former past president of the Robert A. Grant Inn of Court.  He currently serves on the executive committee of the St. Joseph County Bar Foundation and also the Rangers Competitive Shooting Club (Trap & Skeet).

For the past twenty years, Clint has held a steadfast devotion to second amendment rights. He has represented Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) in State and Federal Court. He holds an FFL type 7 license as well as a SOT type 2 license. His experience with firearms has allowed him to work with well-known ordnance experts as it pertains to civil litigation.

Alex C. Bowman

Alex Bowman is a trial attorney with a general litigation practice representing individuals, businesses, and municipalities. Alex was born and raised on South Bend’s south side and graduated from John Adams High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and earned his juris doctor degree from the Saint Louis University School of Law, graduating in the top third of his class with concentrations in entrepreneurship law and international and comparative law.

Alex’s practice areas include civil litigation, insurance defense, entrepreneurship and small business development, municipal law, civil rights, criminal defense, and trusts and estates.

Alex brings to his legal practice a passion for serving and representing others. At Saint Louis University, Alex’s peers elected him to serve as the Executive Vice President, and later, President, of the Student Bar Association. In these roles, Alex encouraged his peers to give back to the St. Louis community, and worked closely with local businesses and charitable organizations to accomplish this goal. Alex was also honored to serve as the School’s student delegate to the American Bar Association’s Annual Conference in 2015.

Alex’s legal practice also draws on a wealth of clinical and practical experience. Alex served as a law clerk for two years with a successful and well-respected civil litigation firm in St. Louis, Missouri, working on many diverse legal matters including personal injury, “toxic tort” litigation, and civil rights claims. He also worked in the law school’s Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic, where he counseled numerous non-profit and start-up businesses, and participated in the Moot Court program.

Alex is thrilled to return to his hometown to practice law. When he’s not in the office, Alex enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and working with local charitable organizations.

Nathan D. Ridgway

Nathan D. Ridgway is a native of North Liberty, Indiana. He is a graduate of Carroll University (B.S. 2013) majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations, the University of Wyoming College of Business (M.B.A. 2017), and the University of Wyoming College of Law (J.D. 2017).

Nathan’s primary concentration is on personal injury litigation, family law, insurance defense, business torts, and employment law. He has been involved in property settlement disputes, contract negotiation, business development, and client advocacy work.

At Carroll University, Nathan was a member of the Student Senate, president of Delta Rho Upsilon fraternity, and actively participated in charitable work with the Women’s Center of Waukesha. At the University of Wyoming, he interned for Judge Thomas Campbell of the Laramie County Judicial District Courts in Cheyenne, Wyoming, was chief editor of “Workers’ Compensation Law, 2nd Edition” written by Prof. Michael Duff, and portrayed John Wilkes Booth in the 2016 Spence Law Firm Historic Trail for the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

Robert D. Lee – Retired

Robert D. Lee is a native of Los Angeles, California. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.B.S., 1961) and Valparaiso University School of Law (1966). At Valparaiso University School of Law, he was a member of Delta Theta Phi, and co-founder and business director of Valparaiso University Law Review. He has an extensive career as an experienced trial attorney.

His primary concentration was personal injury litigation, family law, and domestic relations. He represented individuals and business entities at both trial and appellate levels of litigation. He tried numerous jury cases in State and Federal court.

He is also the former part owner and secretary-treasurer of Avanti Motor Corporation and National Inventory Reserve. Lastly, Bob was a U.S.G.A. Regional Affairs Committee member and Rules Official.
